You all know how it goes in real estate. Sometimes your so busy, you don't have enough hours in the day. Other times a call from your mom is welcome. That's the way it's been for me lately. The last two weeks had been a little slow. I've been getting a little nervous due to the lack of activity.
I was at my open house on Sunday when I met a very nice couple. We chatted about the house and the market in general and they went on their merry way. Later that evening, I received an email from them asking me to be their Realtor. They wanted to write an offer on a house that isn't even listed with my company. Sweet!
I, of course, was delighted. We hit it off right away. We viewed the home again and put in the offer. The offer got accepted. Needless to say, they are excited. It is a great house and I'm sure they will be very happy.
So what's the big deal? Here's the big deal - I didn't advertise the open house but instead just plopped out a sign at the curb because another agent had a series of houses open a few houses down from mine. I was just fishing and didn't expect a whole lot. It's nice when a flyer takes off.
Once in a while, you just get lucky!
Take care
PS: I'm back being very busy again.

Congrats on new business!
It's been my experience that if an agent does 30 transactions a year, some were from open houses, some from advertising, some from referrals, some from your nametag, etc. I have heard of "super-agents" who do 50..75..100 transactions a year from doing just one thing over and over, but most of us get transactions here and there by doing lots of the "little" things we should be doing.
You were fortunate to get these wonderful buyers, but it was YOU that got them. Not luck! YOU were there and YOU were prepared. CONGRATULATIONS! Go get 'em.
